BJP MLA Purandar Mishra met President Droupadi Murmu at Rashtrapati Bhavan in New Delhi and extended an invitation to her to attend the upcoming Nuakhai festival in Raipur.
During the meeting, Mishra apprised the President of Chhattisgarh’s rich cultural heritage, folk traditions, spirit of social harmony and the cultural significance of the Nuakhai festival. He highlighted the importance of the festival and its deep-rooted connection with the state’s traditions.
Mishra said Nuakhai is not merely a festival but also a celebration of the new harvest, gratitude towards nature, family unity and social harmony. Associated with the sacred traditions of Lord Jagannath, the festival holds special cultural and spiritual significance in Chhattisgarh.
The MLA said it was a matter of immense honour and privilege for him to invite President Murmu to participate in the Nuakhai celebrations. He said the President’s presence would be a source of great pride for Chhattisgarh’s cultural heritage and its devotional traditions associated with Lord Jagannath.
Mishra expressed confidence that President Murmu’s participation would further showcase Chhattisgarh’s rich cultural heritage at the national level and help give the state’s traditions greater recognition across the country.
He said Nuakhai represents the state’s culture, traditions and social unity, while also strengthening people’s connection with their roots, land and heritage. The celebrations at the Shri Jagannath Temple in Raipur, he said, would provide a meaningful confluence of faith, culture and social harmony.
