Sivasagar (Assam), 09 August (HS): The Assam government on Sunday began a door-to-door assessment of flood-related damage in the flood-hit districts of Upper Assam. The survey was launched in Amguri, Sivasagar by Assam Minister Keshab Mahanta.

Mahanta visited Amguri Bagan and monitored the assessment process by going door to door. Trained teachers are conducting the survey using a digital application to record details of the damage suffered by affected families.

The government aims to complete an accurate assessment within 15 days, with the entire survey process targeted for completion by August 30. Following verification of the assessment, the government will provide assistance for rehabilitation and compensation to eligible flood-affected people.

According to the government’s plan, flood victims are expected to receive compensation by September 15.

Documents And Information Required For The Survey

During the assessment, affected residents will need to provide relevant documents and details concerning their identity, residence and the damage caused by the floods. The survey teams will record information about the affected household, property and losses suffered.

The information collected through the digital survey will subsequently be verified before the government finalises the assistance and compensation to be provided to each eligible beneficiary.----------
