Imphal, 09 August (HS): Security forces and Manipur Police arrested five active cadres of proscribed militant outfits in separate operations in Bishnupur and Imphal West districts, officials said.

In an operation in the Ngangkhalawai area under Moirang Police Station, CDO Bishnupur arrested two cadres of KCP (Nongdrenkhomba) allegedly involved in extortion. The arrested persons were identified as Akhom Premkumar Singh alias Mubi (55), a resident of Thanga Ngaram and presently staying at Ngangkhalawai Maning Leikai, and Ningthoujam Jiten Singh (46) of Langol Ningthou Leikai in Imphal West district.

On August 8, Manipur Police arrested a KYKL cadre, identified as Khwairakpam Rojit Singh alias Chingsanglakpa (21), from Thamnapokpi Makha Leikai, Ward No. 5, under Moirang Police Station in Bishnupur district. Police said he was allegedly involved in recruiting cadres for the proscribed outfit.

In another operation on the same day, security forces arrested an active KYKL cadre allegedly involved in extortion. The accused, identified as Naorem Priyokumar Singh alias Naoba (37) of Naorem Mayai Leikai, was apprehended from his locality under Nambol Police Station in Bishnupur district.

During a search operation at Lamdeng Khunou under Lamsang Police Station on August 8, security forces arrested an active cadre of KCP (Apunba), identified as Konsam Boboy Singh (39) alias Boy of Lairensajik Mayai Leikai in Imphal West district.

Earlier,, security forces arrested an active RPF/PLA cadre allegedly involved in extortion during a search operation at Kwakeithel Mayaikoibi. The arrested person was identified as Khangembam Subhash Singh (54) alias Thanil of Irengbam Makha Leikai in Bishnupur district.

Security forces have intensified search and intelligence-based operations across vulnerable areas of Manipur as part of ongoing efforts to curb extortion and activities of proscribed militant groups.-----------
