Nagaon (Assam), 09 August (HS): An elderly woman killed after reportedly falling into a waterlogged room at Dighliati village in Mahguri area under Juria Police Station in Assam’s Nagaon district. The incident is allegedly linked to a dispute over a piece of land.

The deceased has been identified as Sahura Khatun, aged above 60 years.

According to allegations raised by local residents, Aminul Islam and Hanufa Khatun had allegedly built a concrete boundary wall around the homestead of another family over the land dispute. The wall is alleged to have obstructed the natural flow of rainwater, causing water to accumulate around the house and eventually enter the premises.

Following the incident, Juria Police reached the spot and launched an investigation. Police are examining the circumstances surrounding the death as well as the allegations related to the land dispute and waterlogging.

The incident has caused concern among residents of Dighliati village, while further details are awaited as the police inquiry progresses.------------
