
West Bengal, 09 August (H.S.): East Burdwan: A 33-year-old woman was allegedly hacked to death in Mangal Kot of West Bengal’s East Burdwan district, with her mutilated and unclothed body found wrapped in a sack a short distance from her home on Sunday morning.
The deceased has been identified as Aparna Das, a resident of Khudrun village in Mangal Kot. Her husband, Bapan Das, and 16-year-old son, Shubho Das, are migrant workers, and Aparna was reportedly living alone at home.
According to police sources, Aparna was allegedly involved in a relationship with a local youth, Raju Das. Police suspect that the alleged relationship led to a dispute involving Nanda Kusmete (38).
Nanda allegedly proposed to Aparna, but she refused. Police allege that following the dispute, Nanda attacked Aparna with a sharp weapon on Saturday night while he was allegedly under the influence of alcohol.
Aparna’s body was recovered around 50 hands’ distance from her house on Sunday morning. Her face was covered with a sack, and multiple injury marks were found on her body.
The police detained Nanda and initiated an investigation. According to police sources, the detained man allegedly confessed to the murder during preliminary questioning. However, investigators are verifying the circumstances and motive behind the killing.
The body has been sent for post-mortem .
