Guwahati, 09 August (HS): Assam Chief Minister Dr Himanta Biswa Sarma on Sunday said the Arunodoi scheme has brought smiles to the faces of millions of women across the state, while also highlighting their contribution towards helping flood-affected families.

In a social media post, Sarma said financial assistance under Arunodoi was credited to the bank accounts of more than 37 lakh women on August 1.

The Chief Minister said the beneficiaries contributed ₹1250 each from their assistance towards supporting people affected by the devastating floods. He said their gesture had become a helping hand for many flood-hit families.

Sarma expressed his gratitude to every Arunodoi beneficiary for their generosity and solidarity with families facing hardship due to the floods.
