Guwahati, 07 August (HS): A tragic road accident on National Highway-27 at Lalmati in Sonapur claimed the lives of a woman and her five-year-old daughter on Friday after a Bolero allegedly collided with their scooter.

The victims were identified as Nilakshi Ingti and her daughter, Aditi Ranghang, residents of Samata Pathar in Sonapur.

Police said the duo was on their way home after purchasing meat when they attempted to cross the highway. Their scooter (AS-01GU-8951) was allegedly struck by a Bolero (AS-09J-4494) travelling from Jorabat towards Jagiroad. The impact proved fatal, and both mother and daughter died at the scene.

Following the accident, police rushed to the spot and shifted the bodies to Gauhati Medical College and Hospital (GMCH) for post-mortem examination. A case has been registered, and an investigation is underway to ascertain the circumstances leading to the fatal collision.---------
