Guwahati, 07 August (HS): The Assam government on Friday carried out a major reshuffle in the state police administration, issuing a series of transfer and promotion orders involving several senior IPS and APS officers across different wings of the police force.
Among the key changes, Ratna Singha has been allowed to officiate as Inspector General of Police (Special Branch), while Bijoy Giri Kuligam has been promoted to officiate as Inspector General of Police (BTAD), Kokrajhar. Kangkan Jyoti Saikia has been transferred as Inspector General of Police (Eastern Range), Jorhat, and Prasanta Sagar Changmai has been posted as Inspector General of Police, Fire and Emergency Services.
Dr. V. Siva Prasad Ganjala has been given additional charge as Inspector General of Police (Northern Range), while Y.T. Gyatso has been transferred as Deputy Inspector General of Police (Western Range).
The reshuffle also includes the promotion of several IPS officers to officiating DIG posts. Dr. Robin Kumar has been posted as DIG (MPC) and will also function as DIG (Armed Police). Gautam Borah, Amrit Bhuyan, Sudhakar Singh, Ranjan Bhuyan, Pranabjyoti Goswami, and Rajen Singh have also been elevated to various DIG positions.
At the district level, Partha Protim Das has been transferred as SSP, Cachar, while Veera Venkata Rakesh Reddy has been posted as SSP, Nagaon. Sarmistha Barua has been appointed SSP, Darrang, Swapnaneel Deka as SSP, Golaghat, Dhruba Bora as SSP, Chirang, Nirupam Hazarika as SSP, Hojai, Nishant Saurabh as SSP, Morigaon and Prakash Sonowal as SSP, Dhemaji.
The notification also includes several transfers and new postings in the CID, Border Organisation, Forensic Science Directorate, Guwahati Police Commissionerate, Armed Police Battalions and other specialised units. A number of young IPS officers of the 2021 batch have also been entrusted with independent charge of SSP, DCP and AIGP-level posts as part of the administrative reshuffle.
The transfers and postings will take effect from the dates on which the officers assume charge of their new assignments.----------
