New Delhi, 07 August (H.S.): Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) national convenor and former Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal on Friday strongly reacted to the Centre’s decision to reduce the deadline for removing unlawful, synthetic and AI-generated content from social media and digital platforms from 36 hours to three hours. He alleged that the government was attempting to suppress people’s voices and had become “afraid” of the “Gen-Z” movement.

In a video shared on social media platform X on Friday, Kejriwal said that the Central government’s new rule has been implemented under which, if the government issues a valid notice to any social media platform for removing a post, the platform will have to take down the content within three hours.

Kejriwal claimed that there is a sense of fear within the Central government after the Gen-Z movement. He alleged that the more the government tries to suppress people’s voices, the more public anger will increase.

It may be noted that the Ministry of Electronics and Information Technology (MeitY) has amended the Information Technology Rules, reducing the time limit for social media and digital platforms to remove unlawful information, synthetic content and AI-generated content from 36 hours to three hours after receiving a valid notice from the government or a court.
