
Chandigarh, 06 August (H.S.): The Punjab Vigilance Bureau during its ongoing drive against corruption in the state, has apprehended private driver Amandeep working in Raftar Tools and Travel Company, Mohali red handed while accepting a bribe of Rs. 5,000. Disclosing this here today, an official spokesperson of the state VB said the above-mentioned accused has been arrested based on a complaint lodged by a resident of Kurukshetra, Haryana.
He informed that the accused driver demanded a bribe of Rs. 60,000/- from the complainant for getting compromise with the Raftar Tools company owner who previously lodged a complaint against the complainant in the police post. Upon requesting, deal was settled at Rs. 40,000/-.
Unwilling to pay the illegal gratification, complainant approached the VB Flying Squad -1 SAS Nagar. Acting on his complaint, the VB team laid a trap during which the accused driver was arrested red handed while accepting bribe money of Rs 5,000/- from the complainant in presence of two official witnesses.
In this regard, a case under prevention of corruption act has been registered against the accused at VB police station SAS Nagar and further investigation into this case is under progress.
