
Panaji, 06 Aug (HS): The Goa Bench of the Bombay
High Court has held Founder of ‘Tahalka’ and former Editor Tarun Tejpal guilty
of sexual abuse of a woman employee. The case was initiated in 2013 alleging
sexual exploitation in a five star hotel in Goa in November 2013, during a
programme. The Mapusa Sessions Court had released him in 2021. The High Court
changed the session court’s judgement. Following an appeal by the victim the
High Court entrained the appeal. The quantum of punishment will be announced in
the afternoon.
The Goa Bench comprising Justice Neela Gokhale and
Justice Amit Jamsandekar held Tejpal guilty under sections 376 (f) and
376(2)(C) of IPC relating to rape, and also Sections 354-A, and 354-B. The High
Court’s order supersedes the order of Sessions Court.
