Howrah, 06 August (H.S.): The Detective Department of Howrah Police has arrested six men, all originally from Bihar, for allegedly conspiring to commit dacoity. The police disclosed details of the operation in a statement issued on Thursday.
According to the police, acting on credible source information, a raid was conducted in Dhulagarh under the Sankrail area on August 5, leading to the arrest of Prince Kumar, Vishal Kumar, Kishan Kumar Singh, Chandan Kumar, Ankit Kumar and Labkush Rai.
During the operation, the police recovered two improvised country-made firearms and six live cartridges from the possession of the arrested persons.
During interrogation, Kishan Kumar Singh, Vishal Kumar and Prince Kumar allegedly told investigators that they had arrived in Dhulagarh a day earlier with the intention of committing dacoity in the Howrah or Kolkata area.
Preliminary investigation further revealed that the arrested persons had allegedly been involved in dacoity cases in Nalanda and Patna districts of Bihar. Police also stated that Prince Kumar is wanted in a murder case registered in Nalanda district.
A case has been registered at Sankrail Police Station under Sections 310(4) and 310(5) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS) and Sections 25 and 27 of the Arms Act. Further investigation is underway to ascertain whether the arrested persons have links to a larger criminal network.
