Bhubaneswar, 06 August (H.S.): Continuous heavy rainfall since Wednesday night has severely disrupted normal life in Bhubaneswar, leaving several parts of the city waterlogged and low-lying areas inundated. Shantipalli Basti in the Saheed Nagar locality has emerged as one of the worst-affected areas, with knee-deep rainwater entering residential houses.

The heavy downpour began around 11 pm on Wednesday, intensifying by midnight and continuing throughout the night. Light to moderate rainfall was also reported across parts of Odisha, including Bhubaneswar, on Friday morning.

The persistent rainfall led to water entering multiple homes in Shantipalli Basti and nearby areas, submerging household furniture and essential belongings. Residents faced significant disruption to their daily activities as water accumulated inside living spaces.

Several roads in the affected localities remained submerged at the time of reporting, hampering movement for both residents and vehicles. The waterlogging has raised concerns over drainage efficiency and urban flood management in the city.
