Bhubaneswar, 06 August (H.S.): Odisha Health Minister Mukesh Mahaling on Thursday visited the District Headquarters Hospital in Jajpur to assess healthcare services and review the post-flood health situation in the region.

During his visit, the Minister interacted with patients undergoing treatment and enquired about their health conditions. He reviewed the preparedness to tackle diseases such as diarrhoea, malaria, and other communicable infections, along with the availability of medicines and overall healthcare management. He directed officials to remain vigilant and ensure there are no lapses in service delivery.

Later, Mahaling chaired a high-level review meeting at the Collectorate conference hall to assess post-flood healthcare measures. Officials informed that out of 60 pregnant women admitted during the flood period, 47 have safely delivered and returned home.

The Minister was also apprised that adequate stocks of anti-snake venom and essential medicines are available at government health centres. He noted that the post-flood health situation remains under control under the direct supervision of the Health Department and public health authorities.

As part of preventive measures, tube wells in affected areas are being disinfected with bleaching powder, and halogen tablets are being distributed among residents to ensure safe drinking water.

Mahaling expressed appreciation for the dedicated efforts of doctors, healthcare workers, ASHA workers, Anganwadi staff, and the Jajpur district administration for their continuous service during the crisis. Senior district officials, including the Collector and Chief District Medical Officer, were present during the review meeting.
