Lucknow, August 06 (HS): Yogi Adityanath, the Chief Minister

of Uttar Pradesh, received a group of members from denotified, nomadic, and

semi-nomadic tribes in his Lucknow official residence. The community arranged

the ceremony to show sincere thanks and respect the Chief Minister following

the Cabinet's historic ratification of the Uttar Pradesh Nomadic Development

Board (UP Ghumantu Vikas Board). This is the first time in India's history that

a specific development board has been approved for nomadic groups in Uttar

Pradesh.The board's primary responsibilities include identifying and

registering historically oppressed populations, creating an enumeration

database, and overseeing the proper administration of State and Central welfare

schemes such as SEED (Scheme for Economic Empowerment of Denotified Nomadic

Tribes).

Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath underlined that the board

will protect vital rights, with an emphasis on land leasing for housing and

agriculture, ration delivery, expedited distribution of caste/DNT certificates,

and access to permanent housing through the PM/CM Awas Yojana.

Overturning Historical Stigma: During the discussions, the CM spoke about how

the British unfairly labeled valiant warrior tribes (such as the Nat, Banjara,

Bawariya, and Sapera) as born criminals under the draconian Criminal Tribes Act

of 1871. He underlined that the board's goal is to entirely reverse generations

of neglect by offering systemic dignity, education, and political

participation.

In the program organized in Lucknow to express gratitude by

the Vimukt and Nomadic Society for the formation of the Denotified and Nomadic

Development Board. UP CM remarked, “Bharat Ratna' Baba Saheb Dr. Bhimrao

Ambedkar Ji abolished the Criminal Tribes Act, 1871 in independent India and

honored these communities by designating them as Denotified Tribes..Those whom

the Congress and the Samajwadi Party did not even ask about, we have worshipped

them. Did anyone ever think that a tribal museum would be built within Uttar

Pradesh? But today, it has been built in Imilia Kodar, Balrampur. We are also

preparing to build them in Mirzapur and Sonbhadra. The Vimukt Jatis are the

warriors of India's freedom struggle. This double-engine government is

committed to honoring them.”

The Uttar Pradesh Cabinet, led by Chief Minister Yogi

Adityanath, has formally authorized the establishment of the Uttar Pradesh

Nomadic Development Board (Uttar Pradesh Ghumantu Vikas Board). This landmark

decision creates a specific, one-of-a-kind structural body charged with the

socioeconomic upliftment and welfare of the state's denotified (Vimukt Jati),

nomadic, and semi-nomadic populations. The plan is modeled after current

socio-economic rescue efforts, such as the state's Shamli and Vantangiya

revenue-village schemes. Nat, Banjara, Bawariya, Sasi, Kanjad, Kalbeliya,

Sapera, and Jogi are some of the main target communities. The larger system

connects youngsters to specialized educational pipelines through state-funded

Jai Prakash Narayan Sarvodaya Schools and Scheduled Caste residential facilities.

“The mantra 'Sabka Saath-Sabka Vikas' has today become the

reason for the upliftment of every section of society. The foundation of this

journey of upliftment is the 'Nomadic Development Board'. I participated today

in Lucknow in the program organized by the Vimukt and Nomadic Society to

express gratitude for the formation of the Nomadic Development Board. @UPGovt
