Kolkata, 06 August (H.S.): National Commission for Women (NCW) Chairperson Vijaya Rahatkar on Thursday conducted a public hearing for women at the Police Training School (PTS) Auditorium in Kolkata, where she reviewed complaints and directed officials to ensure their prompt and effective resolution.

During the hearing, the Commission took up 31 pending complaints pertaining to the Kolkata Police Commissionerate along with 12 fresh walk-in complaints. Based on the Action Taken Reports (ATRs) submitted by the authorities, 25 cases were disposed of.

The hearing was attended by Additional Commissioner of Police Ashish Biswas, Joint Commissioner of Police (Law) Bhaskar Mukherjee, Kolkata Municipal Corporation Joint Commissioner Jyotirmoy Tanti, representatives of the District Legal Services Authority (DLSA), Protection Officers, and other concerned officials.

Rahatkar reiterated that the timely and effective redressal of women's grievances remains a top priority for the National Commission for Women. She also instructed the concerned authorities to expedite the disposal of all pending cases and ensure prompt justice for the complainants.
