Prayagraj, August 06 (HS): The Jhansi Wagon Repair Workshop

under North Central Railway has developed the first prototype of the modified

Brake Van (BVZI & BVCM), designed to significantly improve the working

conditions of Train Managers (Guards). This state of art initiative to fulfill

the long standing demand, has received widespread appreciation from the Train

Managers.

Recognizing the success of this innovation by the Jhansi

Workshop, the Railway Board (RB) has issued RSP instructions to all Zonal

Railways for the nationwide upgrade of BVZI and BVCM brake vans during Periodic

Overhauling (POH) and Routine Over-Hauling (ROH).

This initiative include various upgrades like;

1- 360-Degree Swivel Seat: A newly designed 360-degree

rotatable Guard chair equipped with a dedicated fabricated footrest.

2- Solar Power & Electrification: Integration of solar

panels for lights and fans, powered by a Combined Control Unit (CCU) with a

12.8V/110 Ah Lithium Ferro Phosphate battery.

3- Cabin Interior Enhancements: High-durability polyamine

epoxy resin flooring, interior fleet graphics film, and an improved commode

design.

4- Convenience Accessories: Installation of a dedicated

Walkie-Talkie stand, bottle holder, coat hook, grab handle, and a door lock

with a universal key.

This nationwide rollout marks a significant step forward in

enhancing operational comfort and safety for Railway Train Managers. General Manager of North Central Railway, Naresh

Pal Singh, personally monitored this project. Appreciating the efforts of the

Jhansi Workshop team that developed this prototype, he said that the newly

designed brake van will improve the challenging working conditions of our Train

Managers, who play a crucial role in ensuring safety in train operations. Train

managers are an integral part of Railway safety and we are committed to improve

their working conditions. The modifications done in the guard's brakevan will

provide better working conditions to the goods train managers.
