Sivasagar (Assam), 06 August (HS): Assam Agriculture, Irrigation and Parliamentary Affairs Minister Pijush Hazarika on Thursday chaired a review meeting on post-flood rehabilitation and recovery measures in Sivasagar district, following the directions of Chief Minister Dr. Himanta Biswa Sarma.

The meeting, held at the Deputy Commissioner's Office in Sivasagar, was attended by Ministers Bimal Borah and Sushanta Borgohain, Nazira MLA Mayur Borgohain, senior district officials and Circle Officers. Discussions focused on the implementation of rehabilitation assistance, dewatering operations in Sivasagar town, flood damage assessment and other measures aimed at ensuring timely relief for affected families.

Officials informed the meeting that nearly 43,000 flood-affected families in the district have already received the ₹15,000 interim financial assistance announced by the Assam Government. Hazarika directed the district administration to ensure that all eligible beneficiaries receive the assistance without delay and that no deserving family is left out.

The Minister also stressed the need to expedite rehabilitation work and maintain close coordination among all departments for effective implementation of relief measures. Temporary shelters are being arranged for families whose houses were completely washed away in the floods.

Pijush Hazarika, who had been stationed in Sivasagar for the last seven days to supervise relief and rehabilitation efforts in Sivasagar and Charaideo districts, has been regularly visiting flood-hit areas, interacting with affected families and monitoring rehabilitation work on the ground.---------
