Silchar (Assam), 06 August (HS): Police registered five cases under the NDPS Act between August 4 and August 6, leading to the arrest of nine persons and the seizure of narcotics worth an estimated ₹85.01 lakh. Two vehicles were also seized during the operations.

According to official records available on Thursday, the seizures included 242.08 grams of heroin valued at ₹48.41 lakh, 1.2 kg of ganja worth ₹36 lakh and 9,000 Yaba tablets valued at ₹60,000.

Among the cases, Silchar Police Station registered two separate cases, resulting in the arrest of Anuwara, Sufiya, and Setab Uddin, with 86.07 grams of heroin recovered.

In another operation, Borkhola Police arrested Prasenjit, Konthaujam Nganthoiba and Ksh Piter, seizing 6.41 grams of heroin.

A separate Silchar Police case led to the arrest of Saurav, from whose possession 1.2 kg of ganja was recovered.

The biggest seizure was made by Jirighat Police, where Sajijadul Alom and Razaul Karim were arrested with 149.6 grams of heroin and 9,000 Yaba tablets.

Police stated that all cases have been registered under relevant provisions of the NDPS Act, and further investigation is underway.-----------
