
Kolkata, 06 August (H.S.): The West Bengal Legislative Assembly has constituted the Standing Committee on Industry, Commerce and Enterprises for the year 2026–27. Senior legislator Dibyendu Adhikari has been appointed as the Chairman of the committee, while Champdani MLA Dilip Singh has been inducted as one of its members. The list issued by the Assembly includes a total of 15 members, including the Chairman.
The Standing Committee is entrusted with examining matters related to industry, commerce and enterprises, reviewing the functioning of departments, and making policy recommendations on issues concerning industrial growth and economic development. Dilip Singh's inclusion in the committee is being viewed as recognition of his political experience and consistent commitment to public service.
Widely regarded as a hardworking, honest and people-centric leader, Dilip Singh has earned a reputation for raising public grievances, closely monitoring development projects and effectively voicing the concerns of his constituents in the Assembly. His accessibility, simplicity and unwavering dedication to public welfare have made him a respected representative in the Champdani constituency.
Political observers believe that his presence on such an important committee will strengthen discussions on industrial development, employment generation and issues concerning local industries. He is also expected to effectively highlight matters related to the industrial potential of Hooghly district, particularly Champdani, as well as concerns affecting workers and the manufacturing sector.
The committee, headed by Dibyendu Adhikari, comprises Billeswar Sinha, Biswajit Mahato, Chinmoy Deb Barman, Dilip Singh, Krishnendu Mukherjee, Pran Krishna Tapadar, Sanjoy Kumar Singh, Siddhartha Majumdar, Soumen Karfa, Sudipto Das, Akhruzzaman, Samar Mukherjee, Arup Roy and Biman Banerjee.
