
Silchar (Assam), 06 August (HS): Cachar Police on Thursday seized a large consignment of illicit Indian Made Foreign Liquor (IMFL) during a checkpoint operation at Digorkhal under Kalain Police Station and arrested three persons.
Acting on specific intelligence, police intercepted a 12-wheeler truck (AS-01-HC-9781) and conducted a thorough search. During the operation, officials recovered 74 cartons containing 888 bottles (666 litres) of IMFL labelled Only for Sale in Meghalaya, which had been concealed beneath poultry and pig feed.
The seized liquor, valued at approximately ₹13.32 lakh, was allegedly being transported illegally from Meghalaya to Mizoram.
The truck driver and two handymen were taken into custody. Police seized both the vehicle and the liquor consignment, and a case has been registered. Further legal proceedings are underway.----------
