
Lucknow, August 06 (HS): The Uttar Pradesh government, under
the leadership of Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath, is continuously striving to
make the state a major center of higher education and research. In this regard,
State Higher Education Minister Yogendra Upadhyaya, at his official residence
in Lucknow, granted operational authorization (permit) to the
management of three new private universities to be established in the state. This
initiative by the Yogi government will expand higher, technical, and
agricultural education in Ghaziabad, Kanpur, and Fatehpur districts, and
provide youth with better educational opportunities in their own areas.
Higher Education Minister Yogendra Upadhyay handed over the
official operating authority letter to the Secretary/Chairman of 'Indian
Institute of Management and Engineering Society', Ghaziabad for running 'Ajay
Kumar Garg University' in Ghaziabad district, to the Secretary of 'Swami Brahmanand
Saraswati Charitable Trust', Delhi for running 'Maharishi Mahesh Yogi
International Agriculture University' in Bilhaur of Kanpur city and to the
Chairman of 'Anglo Sanskrit College', Fatehpur for running 'Thakur Yugraj Singh
University' in Fatehpur.
It is noteworthy that this approval has been issued by the
Higher Education Section-1 of the Uttar Pradesh Government under the amendment
ordinances to the Uttar Pradesh Private University Act, 2019. Under this,
notifications regarding permission to operate have been issued, including Ajay
Kumar Garg University of Ghaziabad under the Third Amendment Ordinance
(Ordinance No. 17 of 2026), Maharishi Mahesh Yogi International Agriculture
University of Kanpur under the Fourth Amendment Ordinance (Ordinance No. 18 of
2026), and Thakur Yugraj Singh University of Fatehpur under the Fifth Amendment
Ordinance (Ordinance No. 19 of 2026).
While handing over the authorization letter, the Higher
Education Minister expected the concerned institutions to provide quality, employment-oriented,
and value-based education while complying with the standards, rules, and
conditions set by the government. He said that the Yogi government is
strengthening the higher education infrastructure by encouraging private
investment in the state, so that the state's students can benefit from modern
educational resources and an excellent environment.
