Imphal, 06 August (HS): In a major operation against the illegal transportation of liquor, Airport Police Station detained 15 persons, including six women and nine men, at Imphal Airport after they arrived on an IndiGo flight from Delhi, Airport authority informed on Thursday.
Acting on specific inputs provided by DESAM, the police intercepted the passengers and recovered 79 pieces of luggage containing a total of 519 bottles of Indian Made Foreign Liquor (IMFL). The seized consignment included premium brands such as Jack Daniel's, Jameson, Johnnie Walker, Glenlivet, Glenfiddich, Glenmorangie, Monkey Shoulder, Smirnoff, Absolut Vodka, Jacob's Creek Wine, Blue Label, Black Label and others.
The detained individuals, along with the seized liquor, were handed over to Singjamei Police Station for further proceedings. Police said an enquiry is underway, and both the accused and the seized IMFL will be handed over to the Excise Department for further legal action under the relevant provisions.----------
