New Delhi, 04 August (H.S.):

Several parts of the northeastern region of the country are likely to receive heavy rainfall over the next two days, according to the India Meteorological Department (IMD). Light rainfall activity is also expected to continue at isolated places in Delhi-NCR for the next two to three days.

According to the IMD, several parts of Delhi-NCR are likely to witness light rain and some areas may receive moderate rainfall between Wednesday morning and afternoon. The maximum and minimum temperatures in Delhi are expected to remain between 32-34 degrees Celsius and 23-25 degrees Celsius, respectively. Similar weather conditions are likely to continue on Thursday and Friday. The maximum temperature is expected to remain between 31-33 degrees Celsius on August 6 and between 32-34 degrees Celsius on August 7.

The IMD forecast stated that during the next two days, heavy rainfall is likely at isolated places over the Northeast and adjoining eastern parts of India, followed by similar conditions in some areas over the subsequent five days. Extremely heavy rainfall of more than 21 cm is likely at isolated places in Sikkim, Assam, and Meghalaya during this period.

Heavy rainfall is also expected in Kerala, coastal Karnataka, and southern interior Karnataka during the next three days.

The weather department has forecast heavy to extremely heavy rainfall at isolated places across parts of Northwest India, Central India, East India, Northeast India, and West India during the next five to six days. Strong winds are also likely at isolated locations during this period.

In the past 24 hours, extremely heavy rainfall of more than 21 cm was recorded in parts of Madhya Maharashtra. Very heavy rainfall ranging between 12-20 cm was reported in Uttarakhand, Himachal Pradesh, Punjab, Meghalaya, Sub-Himalayan West Bengal and Sikkim, Jharkhand, coastal Karnataka, Kerala, southern interior Karnataka, and Telangana.

Heavy rainfall ranging between 7-11 cm was recorded in parts of western Uttar Pradesh, Chhattisgarh, Saurashtra, Haryana, western Madhya Pradesh, Goa, Arunachal Pradesh, Gangetic West Bengal, Odisha, Bihar, Tamil Nadu, northern interior Karnataka, and coastal Andhra Pradesh.
