New Delhi, 04 August (H.S.): : Leader of Opposition in the Lok Sabha Rahul Gandhi on Tuesday said that Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s views on forgiving students protesting for fair examinations and a better education system are contrary to the pluralistic character of the country.

Rahul Gandhi was addressing the launch event of “Vaiko in Parliament”, a compilation of parliamentary speeches by Marumalarchi Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam (MDMK) General Secretary Vaiko, at the Constitution Club in New Delhi.

The event was attended by several opposition leaders, including Samajwadi Party president Akhilesh Yadav, National Conference president Farooq Abdullah, former Union Minister P. Chidambaram, Communist Party of India (CPI) General Secretary D. Raja, Communist Party of India (Marxist) General Secretary M.A. Baby, and Trinamool Congress MP Mahua Moitra.

Rahul Gandhi said that the country is passing through a difficult phase where students are taking to the streets demanding fair examinations and improvements in the education system, while the Prime Minister is talking about forgiving them.

“I do not understand who the Prime Minister is to forgive students and where he got the authority to forgive the future of India,” Rahul Gandhi said.

The Congress leader alleged that a dangerous ideology was driving the thinking of the Prime Minister and his associates. He claimed that this ideology goes against India’s diversity and pluralistic identity.
