New Delhi, 12 August (H.S.): Powered by impressive half-centuries from Sarthak Ranjan and Vaibhav Kandpal, North Delhi Strikers registered a commanding eight-wicket victory over West Delhi Lions in the Delhi Premier League (DPL) 2026.

In the match, which extended late into Tuesday night at the Arun Jaitley Stadium, North Delhi Strikers chased down a target of 147 runs with just two wickets down.

After winning the toss and opting to bat first, West Delhi Lions managed 146/7 in their allotted 20 overs against a disciplined North Delhi bowling attack. The Lions put together 36 runs for the opening wicket, but their middle order faltered after Ankit Kumar was dismissed for 10 off 10 balls.

North Delhi Strikers continued to pick up wickets at regular intervals, reducing West Delhi Lions to 59/5. Mayank Gusain and Sombir Shayokand then steadied the innings with a crucial 68-run partnership for the sixth wicket. Shayokand scored 34 off 24 balls, while Gusain remained unbeaten on 42 off 28 deliveries.

Mayank Dagar was North Delhi Strikers’ most successful bowler, claiming two wickets for just 14 runs in his four-over spell.

Chasing 147, North Delhi Strikers got off to a flying start. Captain Sarthak Ranjan and Vaibhav Kandpal stitched together an impressive 106-run opening partnership to put their side firmly on course for victory.

Sarthak took the attack to the bowlers, smashing 57 off just 30 balls. Even after his dismissal, Vaibhav continued in the same aggressive vein, remaining unbeaten on 64 from 43 deliveries to guide North Delhi Strikers to the target.

North Delhi Strikers reached the required total with two wickets down, producing a dominant all-round performance to secure a convincing victory.
