Guwahati, August 11 (HS): Guwahati Royals pulled off a thrilling three-wicket victory over Charaideo Sunrisers in Match 21 of the Imperial Blue Packaged Drinking Water Assam Premier League 2026 at the ACA Stadium here on Tuesday.

The high-scoring encounter witnessed several tournament records. Sumit Ghadigaonkar’s 107 marked the first century of the season, while Charaideo Sunrisers’ 208/2 became the first 200-plus total of the tournament. Royals also completed the highest successful chase of the season.

After being asked to bat first, Charaideo made a flying start as Ghadigaonkar and Pradyun Saikia added 143 runs for the opening wicket in just 82 balls, the highest partnership of the tournament so far. Saikia smashed 59 off 39 balls, while Ghadigaonkar struck 107 off 64 deliveries, including six fours and seven sixes. Amlan Jyoti Das remained unbeaten on 30 off 19 balls as Sunrisers finished on 208/2.

Royals began their chase in spectacular fashion, scoring 24 runs in the opening over. Rohit Sen raced to his half-century in just 15 balls, the fastest fifty of the season, and went on to smash 96 off 38 balls with five fours and 10 sixes.

Despite losing wickets at regular intervals, Royals remained in contention. Sen’s dismissal at 148/4 briefly shifted the momentum towards Sunrisers, who reduced Royals to 180/7 by the 17th over. However, Gunjan Jyoti Deka held his nerve with an unbeaten 38 off 24 balls, while Mrinmoy Dutta contributed an unbeaten 16 off 10 deliveries.

The duo guided Royals to 212/7 in 19.3 overs, completing a dramatic three-wicket victory.
