Gorakhpur, 11 August (H.S.): On Tuesday, the

Chaturdashi date of the Krishna Paksha of the month of Sawan, and Sawan

Shivratri, Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath performed Rudrabhishek at the ancient

Mansarovar Temple in the Gorakhnath area, praying to Lord Shiva for the happiness

and prosperity of the people of the state. Tuesday marked the second

consecutive day of Rudrabhishek during his stay in Gorakhpur. Prior to the

Mansarovar Temple, he had performed Rudrabhishek at the Shaktipeeth of the

Gorakhnath Temple on Monday.

At the ancient Mansarovar Temple, Chief Minister

Yogi Adityanath offered Bilva leaves, lotus flowers, Durva (sunflower), and

numerous other worship materials to Lord Mahadev, the Supreme God, and then

anointed him with honey, curd, sugar, cow's milk, and water. The learned

priests of the Gorakhnath Temple performed the Rudrabhishek with the

Mahamantras from the Rudrashtadhyayi of the Shukla Yajurveda Samhita. Following

the Rudrabhishek, the Chief Minister completed the ritual with a havan (fire

ritual) and aarti (sacred fire) amid chanting of Vedic mantras. He prayed to

Lord Mahadev for the welfare of the entire universe and for a healthy, happy,

prosperous and peaceful life for the people of the state.
