Bhubaneswar, 11 August (H.S.): Odisha Deputy Chief Minister and Agriculture and Farmers’ Empowerment and Energy Minister Kanak Vardhan Singh Deo on Tuesday warned of strict action against fertiliser dealers found supplying agricultural inputs for illegal ganja cultivation.

Singh Deo said fertilisers are intended for legitimate agricultural activities and cannot be diverted for the cultivation of ganja. The government has taken note of allegations that some dealers are supplying fertilisers for illegal marijuana cultivation, he said.

“It has come to light that some fertiliser dealers are supplying fertilisers for marijuana cultivation, and action will be taken against those found involved,” the minister said.

The warning comes amid concerns over the alleged diversion of fertilisers and other agricultural inputs for ganja cultivation. The government is expected to take appropriate action against dealers found violating the prescribed norms.
