Sant Kabir Nagar, 11 August (H.S.): On Tuesday,
Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath stated that Hindus venerated Sant
Kabir Das despite his criticism of Hindu orthodoxy, whilst Muslims did not,
claiming that his teachings transcended religious barriers. Adityanath made the
statements after inaugurating and laying the groundwork for 201 development
projects totaling more than Rs 684 crore.
Sant Kabir followed the Nirgun
tradition. He spoke out against both Hindu orthodoxy and Islamic fanaticism.
However, Hindus worshiped him, whilst Muslims would not even touch him. This is
the difference, the chief minister stated in his speech. He said Sant Kabir
despised deceit and caste divides. Sant Kabir Das ji began a war against hypocrisy
and arrived to Maghar. People believed that dying in Maghar would send them to
hell, but he stated that whether a person goes to paradise or hell after death
is determined by his actions.
Adityanath stated that the BJP governments, guided
by Prime Minister Narendra Modi, established the Kabir Academy to safeguard
Kabir's legacy and foster study on him. Today, an academy and an auditorium are
being erected in the name of Sant Kabir Das ji, and we are also working on
constructing a corridor for Baba Tameshwarnath Dham, he stated.
The chief minister stated that a spinning factory in the area had closed due to
the corrupt practices of the Congress and Samajwadi Party regimes, but measures
are ongoing to reopen it.
