Golaghat (Assam), 01 August (HS): Three alleged members of a sand mafia were injured after the Forest Department opened fire during an operation at Shyamraipur in Numaligarh around midnight.

The injured have been identified as Bishnu Sah, Bikash Oraon and Imjadul Ahmed. Bishnu Sah and Bikash Oraon, along with Imjadul Ahmed, were admitted to Golaghat Civil Hospital for treatment.

Later, Imtajul Ahmed was referred to Jorhat Medical College and Hospital for advanced medical care due to the seriousness of his injuries.

The circumstances that led to the firing are yet to be officially disclosed. Further details are awaited as the Forest Department and local authorities continue their investigation into the incident.-----------
