
New Delhi/Jakarta(Indonesia), 08 July (H.S.): Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Wednesday concluded his three-day visit to Indonesia, expressing satisfaction over the outcomes of the visit and stating that India and Indonesia have laid the foundation for a new phase of strategic cooperation across multiple sectors.
In a message shared after the conclusion of his visit, Prime Minister Modi thanked the people of Indonesia for their warm hospitality and conveyed his appreciation to Indonesian President Prabowo Subianto for his personal commitment to elevating bilateral relations.
As I conclude my visit to Indonesia, I leave with immense satisfaction at the outcomes achieved as far as the future of our partnership is concerned. I extend my heartfelt gratitude to the people of Indonesia and to President Prabowo Subianto for his exceptional warmth and personal commitment to taking India-Indonesia relations to new heights, the Prime Minister said.
PM Modi said the visit had opened new avenues of cooperation in key strategic sectors, including defence and security, maritime collaboration, critical and emerging technologies, artificial intelligence, digital innovation and capacity building.
During the visit, the two leaders held wide-ranging discussions aimed at strengthening the Comprehensive Strategic Partnership between the two countries. They reaffirmed their commitment to expanding cooperation in defence, trade and investment, connectivity, maritime security, digital transformation and people-to-people exchanges.
A major highlight of the visit was the launch of the joint conservation and restoration project for the UNESCO World Heritage-listed Prambanan Temple in Yogyakarta. India and Indonesia also exchanged a Letter of Intent to facilitate cooperation on preserving the historic Hindu temple complex, reflecting the two nations' shared civilisational and cultural heritage.
Prime Minister Modi also offered prayers at the Prambanan Temple, describing it as a powerful symbol of the deep historical and cultural links between India and Indonesia. He said the restoration initiative would further strengthen the longstanding friendship between the two nations.
The visit underscored the growing strategic convergence between New Delhi and Jakarta in the Indo-Pacific region, with both countries reaffirming their commitment to promoting regional peace, security, stability and sustainable development through closer bilateral cooperation.
Prime Minister Modi departed Indonesia on Wednesday evening for Melbourne, Australia, the next leg of his overseas visit, after concluding a series of high-level engagements aimed at further deepening India's partnership with Indonesia.
