Bhubaneswar, 05 July (H.S.): Puri Member of Parliament Dr. Sambit Patra has stated that his WhatsApp account has been hacked and is being misused to send misleading messages and solicit money from contacts.

In a social media post, Patra cautioned the public that any messages, calls, or financial requests originating from his WhatsApp number are fraudulent and have no connection with him.

He further informed that, upon discovering the incident, he immediately alerted senior officials of the Odisha Police. According to him, necessary legal and technical measures are currently underway to address the cybercrime and secure the compromised account.

Patra has urged citizens not to trust any communication received from his WhatsApp number until it is fully restored. He specifically requested the public not to respond to suspicious messages or engage in any financial transactions linked to the hacked account.

“Please do not send any money or respond to such messages. All such communications are fake and part of a cybercrime attempt,” he said in his advisory.

Authorities are expected to investigate the incident and take appropriate action against those involved in the alleged hacking and misuse of the account
