New Delhi, 04 July (H.S.): Monsoon showers in parts of Delhi-NCR on Saturday brought pleasant weather and provided much-needed relief from humid conditions. The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has forecast light rainfall accompanied by gusty winds over Delhi-NCR and several other parts of the country during the next two to three days.
According to the IMD, Delhi-NCR is likely to witness light rain and strong surface winds on Sunday and Monday, keeping weather conditions pleasant. The maximum and minimum temperatures are expected to remain close to normal during this period.
The weather department said a well-marked low-pressure area persists over the northwest Bay of Bengal. Under its influence, monsoon activity is expected to remain active over central India during the next four to five days.
The IMD has forecast heavy rainfall over isolated places in the Konkan and Gujarat region during the next three days, across Maharashtra during the next two days, and over parts of Saurashtra and Odisha during the next 24 hours.
Favourable conditions are also expected for the further advance of the Southwest Monsoon over the remaining parts of the North Arabian Sea, Gujarat, Haryana and Punjab during the next four days.
In northwest India, isolated rainfall is likely over Haryana, Chandigarh, Delhi, Punjab and neighbouring states on July 4-5 and again during July 9-10. Similar rain activity is expected to continue over parts of central, eastern, northeastern, western and southern peninsular India over the next six days, with heavy rainfall likely at isolated locations.
The IMD has also forecast thunderstorms accompanied by gusty winds over parts of West Bengal, Sikkim, Tamil Nadu, Nagaland, Manipur, Mizoram, Tripura, Puducherry, Coastal Karnataka, North Interior Karnataka, South Interior Karnataka and Telangana during the next five to six days.
Hot and humid weather conditions are likely to prevail over eastern Uttar Pradesh, Nagaland, Manipur, Mizoram and Tripura on Sunday, while similar conditions are expected over Assam and Meghalaya from July 5 to July 7, the IMD added.
