Imphal, 31 July (HS): Manipur Police on Friday arrested an active cadre of the proscribed KCP (PWG), identified as Khunthoklemba Oinam (30), alias Lemba, from Singjamei Oinam Thingel in Imphal West district.

Police said the arrested militant was allegedly involved in planting a hand grenade at a residence in Yumnam Leikai, Singjamei, on July 28. He was apprehended from his locality during a follow-up operation on Friday.

In a separate anti-extortion operation conducted on July 30, Manipur Police arrested an active KYKL cadre, Mangkhom Keshokumar Singh (45), alias Ibungo, a resident of Kongba Makha Nandeibam Leikai in Imphal East district.

He was arrested from the vicinity of the Regional Institute of Medical Sciences (RIMS) under Lamphel Police Station in Imphal West district. Police identified him as an extortionist involved in unlawful collection activities.

Further investigation is underway in both cases.-------------
