Glasgow, 30 July (H.S.): Thursday promises to be a crucial day for the Indian contingent at the Commonwealth Games 2026, with athletes set to compete for medals across multiple disciplines, including athletics, weightlifting, lawn bowls, track cycling and para track cycling.

India's biggest medal hopes will rest on weightlifters Martina Devi Maibam and Lovepreet Singh. Martina will compete in the women's +86kg final, while Lovepreet will challenge for gold in the men's +110kg category. India has already won seven medals in weightlifting at the Games, including one gold.

In athletics, Olympic champion Neeraj Chopra, Rohit Yadav and Yashvir Singh will compete in the men's javelin throw qualification event. Parul Chaudhary will aim for a podium finish in the women's 5,000m race, while Tajinderpal Singh Toor and Samardeep Singh Gill are expected to mount a strong challenge in the men's shot put final.

India will also be represented by Nidhi Rani and Seema in the women's discus throw final, while Praveen Chithravel and Selva Prabhu will compete in the men's triple jump qualification round.

In the decathlon, Tejaswin Shankar will be in action throughout the day across multiple events, including the 100m, long jump, shot put, high jump and 400m. Vishal T.K. will compete in the men's 400m semi-final, while Animesh Kujur will represent India in the men's 200m semi-final.

In track cycling, the Indian men's team will compete in the sprint qualification round and, if successful, will advance to the bronze medal and gold medal contests. In para track cycling, Leesha Das will compete in the women's C4–C5 4,000m individual pursuit event.

In lawn bowls, Navneet Singh and Dinesh Kumar will compete in the men's pairs event, while Nayanmoni Saikia will represent India in the women's singles competition.

India will be aiming to further increase its medal tally on Thursday as several of its leading athletes take the field in key finals and qualification events across different disciplines.
