
Bhubaneswar, 03 July (H.S.): A complaint has been lodged at the Cyber Police Station in Bhubaneswar against a social media user for allegedly posting objectionable and obscene remarks against Odisha Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi.
Briefing the media, Odisha BJP Vice President Dr. Jatin Mohanty said that the people of Odisha will not tolerate derogatory comments against the Chief Minister. He alleged that an individual identified as Sunil Jena, who claims to be a journalist, has been posting abusive, unconstitutional, and defamatory content on social media with the intent to malign the Chief Minister’s image.
Dr. Mohanty further stated that the accused has been sharing misleading and false information, using offensive language and obscene remarks, which amount to a punishable offence under cyber laws. He added that such actions are creating an unpleasant atmosphere in society and are not acceptable in the digital age.
He urged authorities to take strict legal action under cyber laws against individuals spreading misinformation and defamatory content on social media. He also said that misuse of the identity of journalism to spread such content tarnishes the dignity of the profession and should be dealt with firmly.
Dr. Mohanty informed that a delegation of BJP leaders submitted the complaint at the Bhubaneswar Cyber Police Station, following which the police assured appropriate action based on the FIR.
The delegation included BJP State Vice President Dr. Jatin Mohanty, State Executive Member Jagannath Pradhan, Media Coordinator Sujit Kumar Das, Legal Cell State Coordinator Jayant Jena, Bhubaneswar District Vice President Sushant Jena, along with several party workers.
