Guwahati, 03 July (HS): Assam Chief Minister Dr. Himanta Biswa Sarma on Friday said the state government has launched boat ambulance services in the flood-affected riverine and remote areas of Kokrajhar district to ensure uninterrupted emergency medical care during the ongoing flood situation.
Sharing the update through social media post, the Chief Minister said the initiative aims to improve access to healthcare for people living in inaccessible flood-hit regions. The boat ambulance service has been introduced with support from NTPC Bongaigaon's Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) programme.
He said the service is expected to provide timely medical assistance, particularly to pregnant women, children, senior citizens and critically ill patients who often face severe difficulties in reaching healthcare facilities during floods.
The Chief Minister added that the initiative reflects the government's commitment to ensuring that essential medical services remain available even in the midst of natural disasters, bringing renewed hope to vulnerable communities affected by the floods.
