New Delhi, 29 July (H.S.): Vice President C. P. Radhakrishnan, Lok Sabha Speaker Om Birla and several prominent political leaders extended greetings to the nation on the occasion of Guru Purnima, reflecting on the significance of the guru-shishya (teacher-disciple) tradition, Indian culture and the enduring value of knowledge.

Vice President C. P. Radhakrishnan conveyed his heartfelt greetings to the people, stating that in Indian culture, gurus are the guiding pillars of knowledge, values and righteous conduct. He said that a guru imparts not only education but also inspires individuals to walk the path of truth, duty and selfless service. Expressing reverence for the guru-shishya tradition, he urged citizens to dedicate themselves to nation-building through knowledge, character, humility and a spirit of service.

Lok Sabha Speaker Om Birla described Guru Purnima as a celebration of the eternal consciousness of Indian civilisation. He said that a guru does far more than impart education; a true teacher guides individuals in the art of living and inspires them to follow the path of truth and duty. He also expressed gratitude to all gurus, teachers and mentors for their invaluable contributions.

Union Home and Cooperation Minister Amit Shah said that the position of a guru is supreme in Indian culture. Paying tribute to all teachers who contribute to shaping the future of society and the nation, he extended Guru Purnima greetings to the people.

Defence Minister Rajnath Singh said that gurus are not merely providers of knowledge but architects of values and character. Describing the guru-shishya tradition as an invaluable legacy of India's cultural consciousness, he called upon people to remain committed to serving the nation.

Leader of the Opposition in the Lok Sabha Rahul Gandhi paid homage to all gurus who guide humanity from the darkness of ignorance to the light of knowledge and inspire the values of truth, patience, curiosity and compassion.

Union Minister for Agriculture and Farmers' Welfare Shivraj Singh Chouhan paid tribute to Jagadguru Adi Shankaracharya on the occasion of Guru Purnima. He said that Adi Shankaracharya's philosophy of Advaita had strengthened India's cultural unity and spiritual consciousness, adding that his teachings continue to serve as a guiding force for peace and global brotherhood in the contemporary world.

Union Health and Family Welfare Minister J. P. Nadda described the guru-shishya tradition as a priceless heritage of Indian culture. He urged people to express gratitude towards their gurus and to follow the ideals and values they have imparted.

Congress President Mallikarjun Kharge extended Guru Purnima greetings and recalled the words of Gautama Buddha: Three things cannot remain hidden for long: the sun, the moon and the truth. He paid tribute to all gurus, teachers and mentors, saying that their wisdom and values provide the right direction in life.

Delhi Chief Minister Rekha Gupta said that gurus form the foundation of Indian culture, guiding individuals towards self-realisation, inspiring moral values in society and leading the nation on the path of prosperity. She paid homage to all gurus and the ancient rishi tradition.

Madhya Pradesh Chief Minister Mohan Yadav said that gurus impart not only knowledge but also values, wisdom and the right direction in life. He wished everyone knowledge, happiness, prosperity and good health.

Aam Aadmi Party National Convenor Arvind Kejriwal paid tribute to all gurus on Guru Purnima, saying that teachers shape the personalities of children and lay the foundation of a strong society by teaching them the difference between right and wrong. He appealed to people to honour their gurus and illuminate their lives through the knowledge they impart.
