
Kolkata, 29 July (H.S.): Panic gripped the Ram Mandir area of New Town after the body of an unidentified man was found inside a paratha shop on Wednesday morning.
The police from the Eco Park Police Station reached the spot after receiving information, recovered the body and sent it for post-mortem examination. The police have launched an investigation to establish the identity of the deceased and determine the exact cause of death.
According to local sources, the owner of an old paratha shop near Ram Mandir opened his establishment as usual on Wednesday morning. He noticed a man lying on the floor and initially called out to him, but received no response. He then alerted nearby shopkeepers, who examined the man and found that he had died.
The police said the circumstances surrounding the death remain unclear. The identity of the deceased has also not yet been established, and investigators are trying to determine how he reached the shop.
Local residents said there was an injury mark on the man’s forehead. Police are not ruling out the possibility that he may have sustained the injury after falling.
The police said the post-mortem report will help establish the actual cause of death. Efforts are also underway to identify the deceased by contacting police stations in neighbouring areas.
