Imphal, 29 July (HS): Security forces arrested an active extortionist cadre of the UNLF (P) during an anti-extortion operation conducted on July 28.

The arrested individual has been identified as Samadram Jagat Singh alias Thambaljao alias Romen (49), who held the rank of Sergeant Major in the banned outfit. He is a resident of Thoubal Haokha and was currently staying at Tokpa Ching Mayai Leikai in Kakching district.

He was apprehended from his present locality under Arong Police Station as part of a targeted operation against extortion activities. Further investigation is underway.-----------
