Imphal, 29 July (HS): Manipur Police and security forces carried out separate operations across the state on Wednesday, leading to the surrender of an accused in an NDPS case and the arrest of two others in connection with arms and extortion-related offences.

In Senapati district, an accused in an NDPS case registered at Maram Police Station, identified as K. Lucy (44) of Mao Karong village, surrendered before the temporary prison in Senapati after a court cancelled her bail.

In another operation, Manipur Police arrested Moirangthem Sanjoy alias Aya (33) of Khagempalli Pankha Nganapi Thong Mamang, Imphal West district, from the North AOC area under Imphal Police Station. He was allegedly involved in an earlier firing incident at a public place in North AOC. Police recovered a .45 NPB pistol with a magazine and five live rounds from his possession.

Meanwhile, security forces arrested Oinam Nikarson Singh (27), an alleged extortionist and active member of the unregistered organisation People's United Youth Alliance (PUYA), from his residence at Leimapokpam Mayai Leikai under Nambol Police Station in Bishnupur district. During the operation, three receipt booklets and documents containing details of Health Department employees were seized.

Police said further investigation is underway in all three cases.----------
