
Bankura, 29 July (H.S.): Trinamool Congress leader Subrata Dutta alias Gopal was arrested by police from Patrasayer Road on Tuesday night in connection with a case involving the unnatural death of a minor in Bishnupur.
According to the police, Dutta has been accused of obstructing the filing of a complaint and attempting to destroy evidence in connection with the case. He is scheduled to be produced before the Bishnupur Sub-Divisional Court on Wednesday.
Police sources said Dutta had allegedly been absconding since his defeat in the Assembly elections. A few days ago, police had arrested his wife in connection with the case. Following her arrest, the police intensified efforts to trace Dutta.
After a search operation, police finally arrested him from Patrasayer on Tuesday night. Further investigation is underway.
