Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Tuesday extended greetings to the nation and wildlife enthusiasts on the occasion of International Tiger Day, reaffirming India's unwavering commitment to tiger conservation. He said India takes pride in being home to nearly 70 per cent of the world's tiger population.

In a post on X, the Prime Minister said India's tiger conservation efforts are inspired by the country's centuries-old tradition of living in harmony with nature and its spirit of public participation. He noted that the nation continues to strengthen tiger conservation through science-based conservation strategies, community participation and sustainable development.

Prime Minister Modi also commended the dedication of forest personnel, scientists and conservationists for their invaluable contribution to tiger conservation. He said their tireless efforts have enabled India to achieve remarkable milestones in wildlife conservation.

He further stated that the Central Government remains committed to empowering local communities and reducing human-wildlife conflict as part of its broader conservation strategy. Expressing confidence in the country's collective efforts, the Prime Minister said India will continue to scale new heights in biodiversity conservation and strengthen its position as a global leader in wildlife protection.
