New Delhi, 29 July (H.S.): Delhi Chief Minister Rekha Gupta visited the Maharishi Valmiki Temple on Mandir Marg on Wednesday to offer prayers and perform religious rituals on the auspicious occasion of Guru Purnima. She prayed for the happiness, prosperity, good health, and well-being of the people of Delhi.

On the occasion, the Chief Minister also prayed for the nation's progress, the holistic development of Delhi, and peace, harmony, and social cohesion in society. She performed traditional rituals at the temple and sought the blessings of saints, spiritual leaders, and gurus.

The Chief Minister said that in Indian culture, the Guru occupies the highest place of reverence. She said that a Guru is not merely a teacher who imparts knowledge but a guide who shows the right path in life. According to her, Gurus instil knowledge, values, discipline, and a spirit of service in individuals, and their contribution to society and nation-building is of immense significance. She added that Guru Purnima is a celebration of India's rich cultural traditions that provides an opportunity to express reverence, respect, and gratitude towards one's teachers and spiritual guides. She said that India's sages and Guru tradition have bestowed upon the nation an invaluable legacy of knowledge, spirituality, and culture that has continually inspired the world.

The Chief Minister further said that Guru Purnima also reminds people to embrace the values of truth, service, discipline, morality, and righteous conduct in their lives. She urged all citizens to follow the ideals of their teachers and contribute actively to the development of society and the nation.
