Alappuzha,26 July (H.S.): Former CPI(M) leader and former Minister and presently Ambalappuzha MLA G. Sudhakaran launched a sharp public attack against his former party leadership and LDF councillors in Alappuzha on Sunday, alleging that they were conspiring against him and accusing the police of failing in their duty to protect him despite prior intelligence about planned protests.

Speaking at a public function attended by Kerala Home Minister Ramesh Chennithala, Sudhakaran claimed that LDF councillors in the Alappuzha municipality had been working against him. He alleged that he had been informed in advance about the possibility of protests being staged against him at the municipal office, but the police, functioning under the Home Department, failed to communicate the information or take appropriate preventive measures.

In a further escalation, the veteran Left leader urged Chennithala's party to end what he described as its understanding with the CPI(M), alleging that such political arrangements only pave the way for large-scale corruption. His remarks drew attention as they were made from the same stage where the Home Minister was present.

Responding to Sudhakaran's comments, Chennithala extended his support to the senior legislator, saying that insulting or repeatedly showing black flags to a veteran leader who had earned public respect through decades of political service was not in keeping with democratic values.

He said the CPI(M) should refrain from attempts to humiliate or target Sudhakaran and asserted that the Congress stood firmly behind him. Referring to Sudhakaran's allegations of political deals between parties, Chennithala said he had no knowledge of such claims.

The Home Minister also referred to the ongoing Exalogic case, stating that the investigation would proceed strictly in accordance with the law. He expressed confidence that the truth would gradually emerge as the probe progressed and that the public would ultimately understand the facts surrounding the case.
