
Guwahati, 26 July (HS): Assam Chief Minister Dr. Himanta Biswa Sarma on Sunday said that the death toll in the state's devastating floods has however risen to 66, while four people remain missing.
The Chief Minister expressed concern that the final death toll could increase to between 70 and 75 as search operations continue in the affected areas.
He said rescue and relief operations have now been successfully carried out across all flood-hit regions of the state, with authorities reaching the affected population.
However, around 25,000 families are still without electricity and efforts are underway to restore power supply at the earliest, the Chief Minister added.
He said while talking to the media persons after attending a program on Sunday that government is making a kit for one week for each and every family so that the relief materials can be delivered easily.-----------
