West Bengal, 25 July (H.S.): A shocking incident of sexual assault on a seven-year-old girl has come to light in a village under Harishchandrapur police station in West Bengal’s Malda district. The incident took place on Friday afternoon, and the police have already arrested the accused neighbor.

According to the SDPO of Chanchal subdivision, the accused was taken into custody on Friday night following a written complaint by the victim’s family. On Saturday, the accused was produced in court, where the judge ordered seven days of police remand.

Police sources identified the accused as Takimuddin, who allegedly lured the minor girl to his house by offering her four rupees. The complaint states that once the girl was inside, she was sexually assaulted. After returning home, the traumatized victim recounted the ordeal to her family, who immediately lodged a complaint at Harishchandrapur police station.

Following swift action, the police arrested Takimuddin and registered a case against him under the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (POCSO) Act. The girl underwent a medical examination, and police assure that all aspects of the investigation are being thoroughly examined.

The victim’s father said, “My daughter was playing outside when the neighbor lured her with money and committed this heinous act. We want the strictest punishment so that no such incident happens again.”

Her mother added, “My daughter was extremely frightened. Once we got to know the details, we went straight to the police. The guilty should face such punishment that no one dares commit such a crime with any minor again.”

The police have assured that a thorough investigation is underway and all necessary steps will be taken to ensure justice.
