Guwahati, 25 July (HS): Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma has lauded the Indian Army for its exemplary rescue and relief efforts under 'Operation Jal Rahat' in the flood-hit areas of Upper Assam.

Sharing a post on social media on Saturday, the Chief Minister described the operation as a remarkable example of courage, service and humanity. He said soldiers of the Indian Army's Red Shield Division have been continuously carrying out rescue, relief and rehabilitation work in the flood-affected districts of Sivasagar, Charaideo and Jorhat.

The Chief Minister stated that the Army has rescued thousands of people to safety and ensured the timely supply of food, drinking water, medical assistance and other essential relief materials to those affected by the floods. Engineering teams of the Army have also assisted the civil administration in restoring connectivity to isolated areas.

Expressing gratitude, Sarma thanked the Indian Army, civil administration, NDRF, SDRF and all other agencies for their courage, coordination and dedicated service in tackling the flood crisis across the state.---------
