25 July (HS): Maharashtra Chief Minister
Devendra Fadnavis and his wife Amruta Fadnavis with Babasaheb Madhav Mane and
Prabhavati Babasaheb Mane performed Mahapuja at Shri Vitthal-Rkhmini m Mandir
in Pandharpur to mark the Ashadhi Ekadashi, on Saturday. The day is also called
Dev Shayani Eknadashi with which the chaturmas begins.
Guardian
Minister Jaykumar Gore, Water Resources Minister Girish Mahajan, Labour
Minister Adv Akash Phundkar, MLA Samadhan Tawtade, Rajendra Raut, Suresh Khade,
Bapusaheb Pathare, members of Temple Committee were present.
Given the
increasing number of devotees visiting the place, best possible facilities and development
of the temple premises will be carried out under Pandharpur Corridor
Development Project, Fadnavis assured. Fadnavis was felicitated on the
occasion.
The
development of the temple premises is almost complete. More space for the
devotees is required to be made available. The work will begin shortly, he
added.
The queue
for darshan is over 25 km long and the devotees are waiting peacefully for
their tern by reciting devotional songs.
The
devotees are mainly from the economically weaker section irrespective of caste
and creed and providing facilities for them is the government’s responsibility.
Mane
couple was given the honour for performing Mahapuja. They have been
participating the Vari since last 20 years.
Fadnavis
also conferred Shri Vitthal Nirmal Dindi award for generating awareness about
cleanliness during the Vari. Shri Vitthal Rukhmin Sanstha, Kaundinyapur,
Varkari Darmasankirtan Seva Pratishthan, Jalna and Gorhekar Sanstha, Alandi
bagged the first, second and third prizes respectively.
